WPPI America’s Next Top Model Judge, Nigel Barker hosted the Sony Fashion Show

Let’s have a brief introduction of WPPI, it’s an international organization of wedding and portrait photographers known for its educational and networking opportunities. Each year WPPI brings special events that never fails to keep its attendees energized! This year it’s fashion! The WPPI opening night party was followed by a runway fashion show hosted by Nigel Barker, a celebrity fashion photographer and judge for America’s Next Top Model. Sony was kind enough and allowed us to shoot alongside their house photographers. Thanks Sony!

Laguna Beach Wedding Photographer – Ellie and Raul – Trash The Dress

Ellie and Raul are dear friends of Los Angeles Photographer Vanity Bride.  Right after they started going out they knew that Vanity Bride will be their wedding photographer.  Sometimes they joke with us saying that the only reason why they got married was so that they will be photographed by Vanity Bride.   Their wedding at Anaheim courthouse wasn’t funny at all but very solemn and attended by their small family and few select friends.  The day started with light rain and as if on cue stopped when they stepped out of the limo.  Raul was so cute holding the polka dot umbrella while Ellie always free-spirited played with her Monique Lhuillier wedding dress.

After the wedding, we headed to Original Mike’s Restaurant a few blocks away with a smaller group of friends.  We love Original Mike’s cause of the horse saddle seats at the bar and there is a whole vintage fire truck inside the restaurant.  We had to finish our food quickly because it started to rain again and we were afraid that we might not be able to do the “highlight” of the day.  It’s not the ceremony but the “Trash The Dress” in Laguna Beach Heisler Park.

Ellie knew that she wanted to make memories when she picked out her gown to do a “Trash The Dress” or for some they call it “Rock The Dress”.  Ellie and Raul were ambivalent at first but these two know how to have fun and are very good in tuning out other people.  The water was freezing so they didn’t get to stay in for too long but they did like rolling around in the sand and climbing rocks.  We shot all the way until night time that it was so dark the only light you’ll see is my flash going off.

We eventually ended and made beautiful images that will surely evoke wonderful memories not just for the newlyweds but also for us.  We love you guys!

Fashion Catalog Shoot for Sherry Couture

It was a gloomy cold morning driving to Los Angeles fashion district. We noticed puddles and dark corners while the sun is trying to peer through the thick morning clouds and that’s when we thought we would tell our art director to have some dramatic shadows or dark corners for the shoot.  We were waiting for his answer and knew he would not go for it but compromised by throwing in some lights in the corners. We knew what has to be done and our lighting assistants helped us angle and adjust our lighting ratios. Lela modeled gracefully and was chosen to be the cover for the catalog but eventually was changed by the editor at the time of the printing.

We love shooting fashion as much as we love shooting weddings. We love seeing how the models give life to the clothes with the help of our photography.
